Keith performs Ciaran McCarthy and his with girlfriend Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) character is currently working on a cruise ship but will arrive back on the cobbles before Xmas.
Keith, though, has decided that he needs to spend more time with his family so Ciaran will be written out almost immediately after.
A source said: 'Something had to give and sadly it was Corrie. He's had a great time working on the show but these last few months have proved to be very demanding.'
